What Is Reverse IP Lookup?

Reverse IP lookup is the process of finding all domain names that resolve to a specific IP address. While a normal DNS query converts a domain name to an IP address (forward lookup), reverse lookup does the opposite — it starts with an IP and finds the domains associated with it.

How Does This Tool Work?

This tool queries multiple free data sources with automatic failover:

• HackerTarget — Primary source, returns domains sharing the same IPv4 address
• ViewDNS — Fallback source with historical DNS data
• Cloudflare DoH — Provides PTR (reverse DNS) records for the IP

If one source fails or returns no results, the tool automatically tries the next. CORS proxies are used to ensure the APIs work from your browser.

Limitations

• CDN interference — Sites behind Cloudflare, Akamai, or other CDNs will show the CDN's IP, not the origin server
• Incomplete results — Free APIs have limited databases; not all domains are indexed
• Rate limits — Free APIs have usage limits; excessive queries may be temporarily blocked
• IPv4 only — Most free reverse IP services do not support IPv6
• Dynamic hosting — Results reflect a point in time; domains may have moved
